Age: 40
Height: 5'10"

Lies like a rug and doesn't bother keeping her story straight. Good luck spotting the truths!
Will die (or kill) for her friends. Or for children.
Wears her brown trench coat everywhere. The patchwork is to hide tears without looking like it
Fights erratically. She doesn't use a consistent style which makes her difficult to predict
She is pretty sure the Turkey Vulture is the best Terrhain animal Rren ever made up
Oh you play cards? Can you teach her? She's never played before and absolutely isn't hustling you
Likes: Traveling, looking at the stars, listening to music, warm colors like gold, sweet foods, tourist trap souvenirs
Dislikes: Nature, The Affluent, Governments UGH, Tuber vegetables, people insisting on helping when she's got it

Friendship Rivalry

General
Rren
Ugh. I don't know if I have enough mush in my vocabulary to describe them. They are a hacker without parallel. I know they joke around without showing it and they still get me every time. I couldn't live without them. Don't tell them that. Their head is big enough already.
H'Naal
He is arguably the best pirate alive. Everyone knows it, knew it. And he watched out for his crewm for those who couldn't help themselves. Who knows where he is now. I sure don't. But he did it to save me and Rren so I can't argue.

    • DM works fine too
  • Active Times/Pace:
    • CST
    • This means little. Sometimes I am active during the day, typically early evening, random times in the middle of the night
    • Given half a chance I will boomerang. Slower paced replies are fine but mine will prolly come before you can clear your inbox. Sorry!
  • Brackets/Prose: I can bounce off either. But for regular scenes I prefer writing in prose, for online/text message/etc posts I will use brackets. If you would have an easier time with one or another, let me know and I'll try to stick to that when writing with you!
  • Offensive Subjects & Triggers: None I can think of at this time.

In Character:
  • Physical Affection: I don't mind and nor does she. She's very much like a cat with casual content. She'll lean against those she's close with, put her feet in their laps etc.
  • Physical Violence: So, for all she is angry a lot, she's not the sort to throw the first punch or just lose it. So arguing absolutely could happen but outside of sparring, a fight will mostly only start if someone she cares about is threatened or if she's attacked first.
  • Relationships: She's fine with joking flirting, may even play along with it regardless of who. She is also very gay and I suspect very prickly about trying to get into a relationship with. Tread with care but if you have a char who wants to navigate that maze of thorns, more power to her.
  • Injuries: General rule of thumb for me is: if it's something minor or major but that she can recover from quickly due to game mechanics, go for it, I don't even need warning. I need warning if I'm gonna have to deal with the consequences for a while though.
  • Death: Okay. This depends on game dynamics. But, never without us talking it out first. I will need to be in a good head space for this, even if there is a mechanic that can bring her back or I planned to exit the game.
  • Mind Reading: I don't feel like she has particular defenses but I also don't feel like she'd be easy to get a reliable read on. She is Romulan and a habitual liar, even to herself. Just because you get surface thoughts doesn't make them accurate. They could be lies as much as what she says. Basically prying might require us brain storming some.
  • Offensive Subjects and Triggers:
    • The Destruction of the twin worlds
    • Slavery
    • Governments, especially the Shiar
    • Anything Anti-AI
    • Disrespecting her name/s or sharing one of her more private names without permission

Out of Character:
  • Backtagging: Love to keep a good thread going :D
  • Threadhopping: I mean if the other party is fine with it, I am GAME.
  • Fourthwalling: Maybe. As an aside if it fits your character? Basically know that I will completely ignore it IC, but it might earn an OOC chuckle.
  • Not interested in:
    • Nothing comes to mind just now.

First Impression:
  • Visual: She is relatively tall, curvy, and decently muscular. Her hair is often but not always over her pointed ears. It is usually kept up in some fashion to stay out of the way. It is rare to see her without her brown trench coat.
  • Auditory: She is loud. Her voice is smooth, but it carries and fills the room. Even when she flat out says doesn't know what she's talking about, she sounds confident that can get missed.
  • Olfactory: Leather and metal primarily. Any scents she use are fairly subtle because she's going to get overwhelmed faster than those around her.
  • Demeanor: She fills up a room. She carries herself like she doesn't care about anything but quickly fails. Confident and perhaps a bit obnoxious.

Discarded App

Notes: This is Khell from 2387 rather that 2407 - this is right after the destruction of Romulus. There is about a metric ton of angst.

The app may be discarded, but I can't bring myself to discard the info in case I ever feel comfortable writing her at this stage. :D

I'd tell you my name, but it would be a lie anyway )

Year: 2407
Content Warnings: Angst, Death Mentions
Species: Rihan (Romulan)
Age: 40
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Lesbian

Name
Name for Outsiders: Khell
Name for Family: Sæ'sha
House Name: N/A (Exiled)
Fourth Name: (She has not found this yet)

Appearance
Character Sheet Character Sheet

Height: 5'9"

Hair: Her hair is dark brown and goes to about her mid back, it's slightly wavy and often in a ponytail/messy bun to keep it out of the way

Eyes: Brown

Complexion: Warm Beige

General body type: She is curvy and has very distinct muscles.

Other defining physical traits: She has an aquiline nose and sharp features. Her eyebrows are pointed, but she does not have forehead ridges.

Favorite physical trait: She loves her hair and is particularly fond of the wave it has when long

Least favorite physical trait: She is torn on this. Sometimes she wishes she looked more Rihan, sometimes she wishes she looked less.

Personality
Positive traits: clever, caring (though she will deny this fiercely), passionate

What do THEY consider to be their best trait?: Tenacity

Negative traits: She lacks impulse control and has a very low verbal filter. Lies regularly, but not well, doesn't even bother to try keeping a story straight when she does.

What do THEY consider to be their worst trait?: Her tendency to ramble

Neutral/other notable traits: She typically feels emotions at a fairly high level and doesn't even try to hide them.

Skills: She might not be a great liar (the lack of verbal filter kind of hurts this ability) but she is very good at spotting them. Beyond that she is a bit of a jack of all trades. She doesn't specialize and prefers it that way. She knows a passable amount of several languages (and profanities in far far more)

Other notes: She fights erratically, the only thing really predictable is she will avoid and redirect blows rather than blocking them

Likes: Traveling, looking at the stars, listening to music, her favorite color is a golden yellow

Dislikes: An overabundance of nature, the affluent, having someone help her unless she specifically asks, tuber vegetables, any form of government

Religious beliefs: While not overtly religious, she has that sort of background attachment to the elements, and general assumption that the universe knows what it's doing.

Proudest accomplishment: Perhaps she should be most proud of something uniquely, or even mostly her, but at the end of the day, hacking a Federation Starship with Rren tops the list. It was fun, and she absolutely has overheard whispers about the joke message they left, because engineers are bad at secrets and some of the ones who found the message decided it was hilarious.

Biggest regret: Not going back and forcing her family to leave Ch'Rihan before it was destroyed.

Biggest fear(s): Running amiss of the Tal Shiar, something happening to Rren

Biggest long-term goal: Living comfortably, perhaps a little luxuriously. She wouldn't mind a bit of a reputation, just not enough to get her arrested.

Relationships
Canon Characters:
  • None
Non-Canon Characters:
  • H'Naal - A Caitian Pirate. He used to get commissioned jobs from governments and while absolutely a rogue, he looked at Rren and Khell as his children, but never said this to Khell because he suspected she wouldn't take it well. He went off the grid to try and get attention away from Khell after Rren was almost killed.
  • Rren - A synth who she basically grew up alongside. They helped her learn who she was and she helped them learn the same. They are clever with a wry sense of humor and far more chaotic than they first appear.
Other Notes:
  • Parents/Family - They were lesser bond servants of a notable house and died during the destruction of Ch'Rihan.
  • Significant Other/s - None
  • Children - Who has time for that? Not her. (Meanwhile she basically 'adopts' every kid she comes across)

Background
Not much happened in Khell's childhood. Her parents were bond-servants and thus she was as well. She was educated, both in general, and in the tasks she'd be performing. She got along well enough with other children, but could be a bit loud.

She didn't intend to run away. She really didn't, she was helping with running errands when she ducked out to spend some time exploring and goofing off. It wasn't the first time she'd done this, and so long as she got her tasks done, her absence typically wasn't missed. She was a pre-teen, old enough she was able to be alone, but young enough that she got a bit more leeway for stunts like this. She was slacking off by the docks of the cargo area and joined in a card game, where she tried to hustle the whole group. She succeeded until the last player, H'Naal who absolutely had caught on and helped the entire time. He let her keep her winnings, but claimed her joining his crew as payment.

She didn't really grasp the full consequences, but it seemed exciting and she really liked him and his crew, so she went along with it, leaving Ch'Rihan. As a result she was exiled and her ties to family were severed, when she tried to contact them later they didn't acknowledge it. But beyond that she never regretted her choice. It took her a few years to realize that the payment didn't mean she belonged to H'Naal, but that she worked for him and she could choose to leave any time, even with him trying to explain it on multiple occasions.

Even when she did understand it she stuck around. It was on his ship she met Rren, who she hated at first. But she grew to really enjoy their company and bouncing ideas off them. They didn't really have emotions but they knew answers to most any question she could think of and helped her with lessons, making them at least a little more interesting than the ones on Ch'Rihan.

She learned fighting from others on H'Naal's crew and just in general everyone sort of acted as an extended family.

It all started to fall apart when word came about the Hobus sun going nova, it was only one system from Eisn (the sun Ch'Rihan and Ch'Havran orbited) and the shock-wave was going to take out the whole system. There was some debate on how long they had, but whatever the case, evacuating the twin worlds had to go quickly. And it started out okay. It seemed like it was going to work out. For Sae'sha's sake, H'Naal even took the ship to join the rescue efforts. It wasn't designed for passengers really, but it had enough cargo space it could get a great many.

They tried to start with her family, but her family continued to refuse to acknowledge she existed. Maybe they trusted the other rescue efforts or their owners to save them. But it angered her, and even if it wouldn't be acknowledged her last message to them was full of rage and spite, even while she expected someone else would save them.

And then the Utopia Planetia Shipyards on Mars in the Sol System were destroyed. And the galaxy as a whole just.. gave up on helping, after all, the Star Empire was not exactly friend to anyone else and the Rihanh people were untrustworthy. And besides, the Federation had its own problems to contend with in the aftermath of that attack. In the end of the billions of people on the twin worlds, not many more than 10 million were saved. She was angry at the universe for a long time, but eventually redirected it at those she felt were most responsible for the failure to save more people. (And those similar)

In the aftermath of this, the Synth ban started and H'Naal and his crew got fewer jobs, tried to stick more out of sight of the Federation. It didn't help though and assassins came after Rren less than a year later. She nearly got herself killed trying to save them because she couldn't lose anyone else. Not then. It counted for nothing though and the only way either survived was the quick thinking and foresight of H'Naal. Rren he loaded into what had been his personal scout ship, their body damaged beyond repair, Khell fortunately was easier to mend.

H'Naal didn't make it out of it unscathed either, though he was physically okay afterwards it was a large factor in his decision to retire. His crew splitting up and him going off the grid brought attention off of Khell and the others, leaving anyone who decided to continue to see him as a target hunting a ghost. Meanwhile Khell got the ship that was now Rren's home, and the two stuck together. While there wasn't much in the way of choice, they were already inseparable and that only increased with emotional attachment. In a way they got to grow up together.

While they still call themselves pirates, after splitting off from H'Naal they could be more accurately described as thieves and scavengers. They make a point not to hurt anyone unless they have no choice, and will pick targets accordingly. Their favorite ships to rob are typically smugglers and other criminals that aren't part of syndicates, as they have less resources to go after them later. At the end of the day Khell makes sure to keep out of the spotlight, this is difficult sometimes when Rren throws her into rescue missions.
